Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) and the National Center for Academic Transformation (NCAT) are co-sponsoring Getting Started on Course Redesign, a seminar for those of you who are thinking about beginning a large-scale course redesign project. The day-long event will be held on the campus in Annandale, VA, on October 21, 2011.
Beginning at 8:30 am and ending at 3:30 pm, the seminar will provide participants the opportunity to learn about how redesign efforts have begun at both four- and two-year institutions. The seminar is open to the entire higher education community.
The agenda includes plenty of time for discussion, including an interactive exercise to help you think about how to get started. Participants will interact with those who have successfully launched a redesign and learn about the issues they faced and how they resolved problems that arose.
This workshop is being offered under the auspices of the Redesign Alliance, a national member organization of institutions, companies and organizations whose mission is to advance the concept of course redesign throughout higher education to increase student success and access while containing or reducing instructional costs. The registration fees, which cover lunch and breaks, are $100 for Redesign Alliance members and $150 for attendees whose institutions and companies are not members of the Alliance. The agenda as well as information regarding registration and the seminar location can be found at http://www.thencat.org/RedesignAlliance/NOVAWorkshopOct2011.html.
If you have questions about this seminar, please contact Joyce Samuels at nvsamuj@nvcc.edu or Carolyn Jarmon at cjarmon@theNCAT.org.
I am conducting research into large class lecturing. I am looking for examples of videos that demonstrate best practice and interactive teaching with large classes. Please could you mail me links to any videos that you know of.
Many thanks

Not sure I can help regarding videos (can any other readers recommend such videos?), but if you go to the Contact North web site you will find several written descriptions of the redesign of large lecture classes.
