The paper reports on a 2007 study undertaken through a survey at three quite different universities in three South African provinces, addressing inter-related questions on access and use: What are the conditions of access for students? What are the enabling and constraining factors? What are student responses to these conditions? How are students using ICTs? In what ways are students using ICTs for academic and/or social purposes?
